Designer Preview: What's new in 2018

Our first trade event of the year, the Designer Preview, is now behind us and the showroom has been left feeling refreshed and on trend.

The day was a great success and our guests were spoiled with the opportunity to feast their eyes on gorgeous new product and collections from our wonderful suppliers.

Not only did we showcase the latest trends for 2018, but also shared our excitement in the official welcoming of The Textile Company and Designers Candy to Designmade, Christchurch.

The stunning new display by In Residence; supplier of beautiful tapware, bathroom and kitchen hardware, is also a welcome new addition to the showroom offering a fresh point of difference to the space. I’m sure our tribe will agree that the showroom is looking wonderfully rich and diverse in a variety of interior solutions.

2018 is the year to retreat from our busy, technology driven lives and find solace in imperfection and nature. We’re also noticing a vintage revival as prints are dug out of the archives and reproduced for our enjoyment.

Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese philosophy of seeing beauty in imperfection is an artistic outlook being embraced by many design houses and reflected in our homes this year. Grasscloth adorns walls with its apparent joins, forming beautiful paneling affects and gently playing with light to create interesting textures.  Organic shapes form unpredictable patterns on wallpapers and fabric; and brass and copper fittings are favored in our kitchens and bathrooms, considered more attractive as they age, revealing their unique patina.

With so much to inspire and re-inspire us, we look forward to seeing what the rest of the year will bring into our spaces.
