As the ‘Silly Season’ begins, we’d like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported Designmade and the suppliers we represent this year. Thank you for joining us at product launches and showroom events, for utilizing our design library to source products for your projects, and for helping to foster a creative and collaborative design community here in the South Island.
SHOWROOM HOLIDAY CLOSURE
We're taking a break over the summer holidays.
The showroom will be closing at midday on Friday 20th December
and re-opening on Monday 13th January.
If you have projects running into the holiday period, we're more than happy
for sampling to remain on loan during these three weeks.
PRODUCT RELEASES OF 2024
2024 has brought with it a wonderful array of collections across fabrics, wallcoverings, flooring & other interior applications; we have been absolutely spoiled for choice!
In June, we welcomed The Stone Group to the showroom. Showcasing their impressive range of quartz, natural stone, and porcelain; we are captivated by the natural color variations and patterns found in their beautiful earth-derived products. It's great to have both The Stone Group and Archant for projects requiring stone solutions.
Annie from The Ivy House also joined us to present the exquisite Armadillo rug collection, enlightening us on the brand’s sustainable and ethical approach to producing their traditionally crafted pieces. Both The Ivy House and NODI have a wide range
of sampling to complete your next project.
In September, we enjoyed an afternoon of gorgeous fabrics and sweet treats to celebrate the release of Designers Guild's AW2024 fabric collection. Inspired by Tricia Guild’s love of ceramics, this vibrant range features a palette of viridian green, rust and hot pink alongside bold geometrics, timeless DG florals, and beautiful vase illustrations.
We had the pleasure of hosting the lovely Nick from Romo, who visited us from the UK to present the latest collections from Mark Alexander and Romo. The showcase featured delicate floral wallpapers paired with Mark Alexander’s signature natural weaves
We were thrilled to welcome Malcolm Fabrics back to the showroom a couple of months ago, just in time for the launch of the exciting new collaboration with Harlequin and UK ceramicist, Henry Holland! This collection draws inspiration from age-old pottery techniques, featuring earthy tones and organic forms, with fabrics and wallpapers that are rich in texture and full of striking patterns.
Just last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Kenny from OMEXCO, who traveled all the way from Brussels to introduce two stunning new ranges of versatile wallcoverings. Featured in Louis Vuitton boutiques across Europe and New York, OMEXCO’s wallcoverings are the epitome of luxury.
CELEBRATING LOCAL TALENT AT THE SPRING FLING ART EXHIBITION
Combining art, interior design, and delicious Little Biddy Gin, the evening was a remarkable success, attracting nearly 200 attendees who shared in a celebration of local talent and design innovation.
We were thrilled to host six talented local artists, each bringing their unique perspectives and styles to the event. From contemporary paintings to woodcut prints, the exhibition offered a diverse range of artworks that resonated with our audience. The artists were on hand to discuss their work during a lively Q&A session, providing insights into their creative processes and inspirations.
We look forward to hosting more events that bridge the worlds of art and design in 2025, and we encourage everyone to continue exploring the incredible talent within our local artistic community.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2025
The Textile Company will be relocating to a larger space within the showroom in the New Year to showcase a wider range of samples from their fantastic brands. We will also be welcoming Santa Fe Shutters & Blinds, as well as Johnson & Couzins' outdoor louvers - both of which will be excellent additions to Designmade's offerings.
